1898-1982

Josh Malihabadi was a Pakistani Urdu poet. He wrote ghazals, nazams and marsias. His real name was Shabbir Hasan Khan but he chose to use “Josh” as his pen name (Takhallus).
Josh was given the title of “Shaair-e-Inquilaab (Poet of the Revolution)” after his nazam “Hussain aur Inquilab”. Josh Malihabadi lived in India until 1958, but later moved to Pakistan. After his migration to Pakistan, Josh settled in Karachi and worked for Anjuman-i-Tarraqi-i-Urdu.
